The company of actors in this production were part of the Rutgers Conservatory at the Globe in London. Upon their return to New Jersey they remounted the production with a new director and design team.
One of the themes the state side production explored was feminine liberation within the world of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Costumes used cage hoop skirt pieces on the Athenian women as a nod towards cages and limitations of the society. They were shed in the forest when the women began to realize their agency.
