Podcasts I like-For Costumers

Whether I'm cutting in the shop with an earbud in, or driving cross country for summer stock, I tend to listen to podcasts. I have compiled a few that I found interesting and helpful for myself as a costumer. I am always on the lookout for new podcasts to listen to and this is by no means the end all and be all list. 

• Stuff You Missed in History Class- A Historically Inspired Gentleman's Wardrobe (2015) ​This may be a little "entry level" for people who are costume history buffs. It is helpful to see how historic accessories are starting to creep into modern fashion. It is also a good brief overview for those who are not as well versed in the history of men's clothing. ​​
• Stuff Mom Never Told You- The Birth of Maternity Fashion (2015)  Something we don't really go into in clothing history that often, but do have to account for onstage sometimes. 
• Stuff You Should Know- How Color Works (2015) Costumers need to know how color works especially when working with a lighting designer. Knowing the science-y bit behind how we perceive color may help your red dress still appear red onstage instead of brown. 
• Freakonomics Radio- How Did the Belt Win? (2015) Why aren't suspenders the norm? May not be too helpful in your stitching lives, but for those of you, like me, who are fascinated by which trends stay and which move on, this may be a good listen for you. 

There are plenty of theatre podcasts out there as well. If you don't fancy any of the ones I've suggested above checkout some other pod-casters. Enjoy!
